1. The UroPay companion app requires access to your SMS messages in order to automatically process website or app orders. UroPay is not a payment aggregator, so PCI DSS certification is not required. However, I have still designed the system to align with PCI DSS security standards for your safety.
2. For additional peace of mind, you may install the UroPay companion app on a secondary phone and link that number to your UPI account. This way, your main phone and personal messages remain completely separate.
3. UroPay never stores your SMS on any server. It only reads UPI credit SMS, extracts the payment details, and then deletes the message right away from the server. Only the companion app stores the SMS for you to look at the status. It is not sent to any server again once processed. Storing every SMS isn’t needed for privacy — and it would only waste server space and cost me more.
4. Call logs are never accessed and no camera, microphone or screen recording permissions are asked. UroPay does not need these permissions to function.
5. For using Payment Links or Payment Buttons, you do not need to install the companion app if you do not want automation. You will get an email when your customer pays using the link.
6. Your data is completely secure. I do not store your passwords, and your API Secret is hashed. The database is in AWS Mumbai region and the dashboard is running on Google Cloud. Both AWS and Google Cloud follow strict security standards, and your data is always behind their managed firewalls.

Payment aggregators pay banks for API access to automate transactions. They charge you extra fees for this service. This is why money first enters their account, they deduct their commission before paying you and also, they can withhold your funds if they need to verify the source. UroPay takes a different approach. Payments go directly to your account (no intermediary), no bank API fees hence no per transaction commission charged by UroPay but to automate the payments, there is a need to know that a payment has been made successfully. UroPay does this by reading your UPI credit SMS. And SMS arrives only on phone. So, a companion app is needed to function properly.

A transaction happens when a customer completes a payment for an order or a payment link or a payment button. Here's the process: 1) You create an order in the system or a payment link or a payment button, 2) The system waits for the customer to pay, 3) When the customer pays via UPI, your bank sends you an SMS confirmation, 4) The system extracts key details from that SMS (payment amount and UPI reference number), 5) These details are then sent to your webhook as a transaction record.
In simple terms: a transaction is the payment confirmation data that gets sent to your system after a successful customer payment.

If you hit the limit, I will not call the webhook(s) but the transaction will be stored in the database and you will get an email notification. In this case you need to manually verify the payments with your customers after logging into UroPay dashboard or move to a higher plan.
Only Unlimited Plan is refundable on month pro-rata basis. For example, if you cancel on the 27th day of the first month, you’ll be charged for the full first month and receive a refund for the remaining 11 months. If you cancel on the 2nd day of the third month, you’ll be charged for three full months, and one additional day in the fourth month — effectively four months total. In that case 12 - 4 = 8 months plan amount is refundable. Taxes paid by you, like GST, are not refundable.
